Customer Reviews

It's on wheels and houses two motherboards/psu's, that's great. Support, Eh not so much. Combined this with the P200, it really is nice. Similar to case labs, yes, but versatility is great. Only needs more drive bay mount adapters, The only problem I have with this, is I've ordered x2 (plus a P200) and Thermaltake support for parts is pretty bad. I sent several emails to inquire about buying extra magnetic filters. The bottom has x2 (part #PS-E) magnetic filters, and they are the same as the internal ones. They kept asking "which magnetic filter") but there is only one. My previous Corsair 900D, they stocked a lot of extra magnetic filters, and parts. Thermaltake US store claims they don't have the. If you make a $450 case, you really should. Not to mention, for that price, they send only 2 drive bay adapters, and charge $5 for extra ones. So, in short, A great case, but just like the RIING fan product support, Tt falls behind in supporting their products. 4Great chassis, with lots of potential for modding Great chassis, with lots of potential for modding, and a few drawbacks/limitations. This chassis has room for everything; a ton of drive bays, it'll mount any motherboard you can think of, and has room for a lot of expansion slots. I use an EATX motherboard, which (for whatever reason) has the USB 2.0 & USB 3.0 connections on the bottom. With this chassis there is over four inches of room between the bottom of the motherboard and the top of an oversized power supply (I use a 1600W). No worries about cable management or space considerations at all. Same goes for the top; I can comfortably fit a 560mm dual thickness radiator w/ fans & not worry about contact or cable clearance on the top area of the motherboard. The only downsides I've discovered so far are on the front panel & internal divider. The front panel does not support mounting standard sized fans w/o an adapter bracket. The side panel does not have pre-drilled mounting locations for vertical installation of pump and/or reservoirs. For that, you'll have to measure & get busy with a cordless drill. This was only my second build, so I wanted to go for something big & impressive looking; that it does quite well. The instructions are easy to follow, and it even comes with a hard case, like a small tackle box, to keep all the different screws separate. Following the instructions, and having a good pair of screwdrivers (phillips and flathead) handy, assembly should take an hour or two. 4For the price I got it for I feel like I stole it Despite all the problems I have had with this case, for what I paid for it I cannot complain (Thank You Amazon Deals). I'm rating it 3 stars due to the issues i've experienced and its original MSRP. For the price I got it for I feel like I stole it. I think Amazon messed up on the list price!.. lucky me & based on the price i paid I would give it 5 stars despite the issues noted further below.Good:1. Modular. You are able to flip the pieces around as you see fit. For instance you can flip the front plate on both the core & pedestal to get the 5.25 bays on the right hand side. The Thermaltake logo is removable and you can invert it so its right side up if you flip the orientation around.2. Size3. Plenty of dust filters.4. Front I/O panel's cables are incredibly long.5. All panels are hinged (that you would expect to be hinged).6. Can fit two full systems; however, I bought it with intention of only putting one computer in it.7. Packaged wellBad:1. Design was not thought all the way through. A. Part # W-A (Corner Bar) looks similar upon first inspection in all orientations; however, there is a rectangle cut out on one side which is needed so part # O-G (Guide Piece) can fit in so you can close the side panels. The cut out is not shown any any early photos of the assembly instructions so if you put it wrong, you must dissemble and start again once you realize the omitted information. The cut out is visible on page 37 bottom photo for the pedestal, but it is absent from the photos on page 35 & 36. B. Part W2-E (Bottom Panel) is flawed beyond belief. It has a right angle brace that is riveted and is shown as facing down on the assembly instructions; however, when it is facing down it prevents part # O-D (foot stand) from being placed as the foot stand hits the brace. Shaving the foot stand down may be possible I thought, but it hits on the "structural" part of the stand so I went another route. I literally drilled new holes for it and used a tap to make a new thread for the screw. The caster wheels can be used without this issue as the brace is not in the way.W2-E part 2. Once the pedestal and core are stacked, the brace on this part will block the holes needed to install (W-L & P-B) HDD cage Bracket in either the core or pedestal; which ever one the bracket is in. The HDD brackets fit within the Corner Bar; however, the brace will block access to the screw hole needed to secure it. Solution: I drilled out the rivets and removed the brace. Once you install your HDD brackets you are able to reattach it with a bolt / nut or new rivet. I left mine out.C. Part P2-B (Front Panel of pedestal) was defective. There are 4 threaded ends (or should be) for part S-C to attach the front bezel; however, mine only had 3 threaded openings, the other was just a drilled out hole 5x the size of the part itself. So my panel is only secured by 3 out of 4 points.D. There is plenty of room up top to slide the radiator bracket either closer to the front or back of the case but they provided cutouts just for one location. If you wish to move it a bit you must make your own cut outs.E. They should have added additional grommets on the bottom side of the motherboard as the one they provided is insufficient. Want another one? cut it out!F. Thumb screws were anything but. I had to "break in" the threads for all 20 PCI expansion slots by screwing them in "with force" with a screw driver. I took care not to cross thread the fittings, but the coating the put on the threads itself made it to tight to go by hand at first.G. The bottom panels for the pedestal is flimsy and there are 8 140mm fan cutouts making it even weaker. If you are intending to put your water pumps in the bottom expect to spend an additional $10-20 on some sheet metal to beef it up and allow for more placement of the pumps.H. It would have been nice to have at least 1 hot swap bay out of the box. I see many listed on their website, but I cannot find where to buy them.I. Cable management in the back is interesting. Would have been nice to include something to stick in front of all the mess!.J. By the lack of a PSU plate for the Core200, i'm guessing its assumed 2 power supplies will be used. It would have been nice for them to include one so I don't have a giant hole at the bottom of my case. I'm going to stick a dust filter down there in the very near future. Note: the bottom plate did not come with it, I painted some sheet metal and drilled the holes and added grommets in for the hard line tubing. The actual bottom has 4 fan cutouts. 3Absolutely the best case. Period. No exceptions. This review is for the WP200 system, which is the CORE W200 stacked on top of the P200.This is absolutely the best case I have ever owned or seen. I have built dozens of computers in various cases, but this is definitely the best.Pros:-Heavy!!! For me, this is a good thing. I don't like aluminum cases at all. This whole thing is solid steal. I fist tried the Corsair Obsidian 900D, mainly because it was a lot less expensive and seemed like a decent case, but the aluminum just didn't cut it for something so big.-Huge!!! There is so much room to work!! At the moment, I am using air cooling, but I will be installing a liquid system soon. There is definitely no lack of space. I could easily have three full independent loops if I want, one each for the CPU and two GPUs.-Fantastic design. It is extremely obvious that this case was designed by people who know how to build a computer. There are so many little details that you would only think to include if you've put together many computers. My favorite design feature is the fact that once built, the front, top, and side doors all come off without any tools. All that remains is the frame and the center divider. This makes working in the case extremely easy.-Wonderfully detailed instructions, that are also posted online as a pdf. The setup instructions go through the details of multiple configurations. I didn't have to look up a youtube video for anything.-Plenty of places to mount fans/radiators.-Back side can hold a combination of hard drives, another system, or cable management. There is a rack that can be installed that holds ten full size HDDs.-Clear Plexiglas panel is extremely thick and sturdy.-Included casters are really nice and heavy duty. Also, they lock.Cons:-Expensive, but 100% worth every penny.-Does not come built. You must build the case itself before you can build a system in it. For me this was some added fun. For others it may be some added frustration.-You will need internal extension cables, depending on where you want your power supply/optical drives. These cables can be hard to find. Also, the motherboard to the front bottom of the P200 unit pushes the max length of SATA III cables.-Heavy. I include this as a con, even though it's a pro for me. This case, fully built as the CORE WP200 weighs in excess of 90 pounds, and that's before adding a single internal component. My system, without having added liquid cooling yet, weighs over 110 pounds. Don't plan on moving this anywhere that it can't roll without the help of another person.Summary:Buy this case. You will not regret it. In fact, you will probably want to buy another to put your secondary build in, just because it's that awesome. Heck, you can even buy another and stack it on top of your first one because they are designed to be able to be stacked and bolted together. I was hesitant to spend this kind of money on a case, but I don't regret it one bit. 5Better than I expected I finished assembling the case last night (W100, no pedestal), and it was an enjoyable experience. The fit and finish is superb, and the instructions were clear enough. I did learn, however, to really look at the pictures because there are some parts that can fit different ways, but need to be the right way for other parts to fit later (I'm looking at you W-A corner bars).I saw one negative reviewer complain that he had to assemble the case. Clearly he didn't read the literature, because that is a feature of this design. It shares this feature with the, now defunct, Case Labs cases. It provides the ultimate in flexibility and alterability (I think that's a word). One of my primary concerns with this case was that there are only three drive cages (holding two drive trays each), and I haven't been able to find whether Thermaltake sells additional cages. However, the case actually came with 10 drive trays, four of which can be mounted behind the motherboard tray with little mounting hooks.I love that this LARGE case has wheels. Moving it around my office is simple and easy compared to what it would be like without the wheels. The wheels have locks, if that's a concern... and there are also non-wheeled feet, with rubber soles, provided as an alternative. There was an unexpected surprise when I found that the case has mounts for installing a video card vertically (see pictures). This isn't shown on any pictures I've seen, including pictures on the Thermaltake website and the instructions. A riser cable is not included, but I wouldn't expect it to be.The case is as big as I expected, but I do question sometimes why I wanted such a big case. But, I'm happy now that I won't have to be constrained by space in my upcoming build. 5LOVE IT! I bought this as part of the W100 (the full model using both is the WP100). The combined unit is AWESOME! Tons of room, very well built, lots of options to tuck away wires, and there is even room for a bunch of hard drives behind the motherboard panel (between the back plate and the right hand case door. The doors are hinged very nicely, and the entire unit is sturdy and very customizable. I love it!Oh, and it is _huge_! My full sized motherboard looks like a postage stamp in the thing. Lots of room to keep water cooling separate from the wiring. 5This is a Modders Case Alright so let me start off by saying this, I've had my eye on this case for over 6 months while saving money for my current build I'm working on, I've wanted a big case so I could throw whatever I wanted in it, no worries, no problems. I'll try to keep it short and simple. Also keep in mind I bought the P100 Pedestal to go with my W100 making the WP100.Pros: This case is huge, and it really does no justice unless you see this thing in person, even researching the limited YouTube videos and Google Images you really just cannot get an idea of how big this case is until it is in front of you. The overall construction of this case is solid, I was speculative at first about the tiny screws they use to hold the main structural part of the case together, but after it's all said and one this thing is solid as could, 100% metal all the way through, this thing is a beast. The customization for where you want to put stuff is pretty limitless too, hard drives in the main motherboard portion, on the back of the motherboard tray, in the P100 (which is where I'm putting mine). Continuing the ample amount of cable management space you get is pretty awesome... there's so much I could say that I like about this case the list goes on.Cons: I know I just said something about cable management, but you can even find from previous reviews that Thermaltake straight DROPPED the ball on a cable pass through from the P100, to the W100. So, I too had to go ahead and make the necessary modifications to the case to do so, why don't I deduct a star for this you might be asking? Because I didn't care, I knew what I was getting myself into prior to buying this case. I can't hate something and be mad at something I was clearly aware of. Besides, the drilling and cutting took a whole 5 minutes. Continuing I feel the wheels for this case should have been made of metal, and not plastic, again, whatever it's sitting in one spot 99% of the time anyway, but still cool that they threw them in. The last con I can really think of, and it's nothing to do with the case honestly, but you will next extension cables... for just about every cable you can think of. 24 pin, 4 pin, 8 pin, SATA Cables, Fan Cables, you NAME it, you will need an extension. For example I'm buying 36 inch SATA cables to make sure I don't skimp out on length. But that's it really, I will include some pictures I've taken so you guys can get an idea of how tall this case is. It's a beauty though, and if you've been sitting on it as long as I have, just buy it. The minor things about it that aren't all there won't even bother you once you have this case in front of you. 590% of the way to a truly great case....... I really wanted to give this case 5 stars. The case itself is very sturdy and well constructed. It took me about an hour to completely assemble the case and it was pretty easy. Finish and fit are both excellent! Then came the migration of my old system to this case. I have a GIGABYTE GA-X99P-SLI motherboard with 64GB of memory, Intel Core i7-5930K Haswell-E 6-Core 3.5 GHz, and LSI 9260-8i raid controller. On the end of my LSI-9260 I have 2 ICY DOCK Black Vortex (MB074SP-1B) disk cages. I have been using 2 cases and I wanted to consolidate things into 1 case. The W100 looked to be perfect for that. The installation of everything went very easy and well until I came to the ICY Docks. The only disk adapter mounting hardware that I had was for a CD. These were a set of small bent brackets. They used 2 screw holes into the ICY Dock right at the front and that was all. To hold 4 hard drives. I really wanted a better mounting bracket for these disks. I mean, they fit *PERFECTLY* in this case. Then I began my search for better mounting hardware. ICY Dock had nothing to recommend and suggested contacting my case manufacturer. I emailed them and asked about mounting hardware. Originally, I asked about the ODD brackets and how to get more. They pointed me to their website. But I wanted better then these little brackets.I looked around more and found that CASELabs makes a similar case and had the brackets that looked like they would work for this case to mount the ICY DOCKs. (CaseLabs Flex-Bay 5.25" Device Mount, Triple Bay). I ordered these but of course, the holes do not quite match up the Thermaltake case. I spent the evening with files opening the spacing up for the screw holes and fixing the alignment for this case to hold the new brackets.Thermaltake has these great looking pictures of the case with disk cages on their home page and as a result, you expect this to be fully supported. If you want to put in disk cages, then you need to be prepared to fabricate the mounting hardwareThermaltake got 90% of the way to having a truly amazing case and just stopped. They do not have the hardware to complete what people buying this case want. Again, as a case, really nice, but just don't expect to mount higher end hardware in it without doing a lot of custom work. 3Best case ever I love this case. The panels may not seem sturdy at first but one the case is assembled everything comes together sturdy. I've built two complete systems in the case and there's still more room to keep adding things. 5some limits and minor safety issue I have to say the case has a ton of room. I love the fact you have so many different ways to configure the case but the items that keep me from a review of 5 Stars is the following:1. the front of the case is limited to having the fans on the right side. I would have like to be able to configure the left/right sides so with two computers you can see the different setups.2. Since I'm only using one PSU the back cover not having a blank panel to cover the second PSU opening is now a safety issue. Kids around house will start sticking hands in opening when looking at the RGB lighting source.Other then these issues the case is solid and a great choice for the price 4
