Customer Reviews

great all around lens! This seems to be a great lens, picked up an Amazon shipped used lens... Marco works great, zoom is awesome, for home photos and snap shots of the kids on my T3i its awesome! I wish Sigma would make a similar lens for my 6D to replace my 24-70 and 70-200 L lenses for walking around/vacations. 5Awesome upgrade A really nice upgrade from my kit lens. I'm a beginner in photography & own the Nikon D3300. This lens works flawlessly with my camera. So far my test photos around the house looks just as good as my kit lens, but now I have the extra zoom. The lens feels well built. Nothing about it seems cheaper nor flimsy. It does add a significant amount of weight to my camera overall, but it's something I will get use to. 5Love Sigma lens! Love Love Love Sigma lens!!! And the new style is awesome! My last lens I used doing rodeo pictures for 3 years, other odds & end pictures over the last 3 years & this winter for school sports pictures. Finally noticed it was falling apart!!! It's been used & abused...but still had awesome pictures! Highly recommend Sigma! 5Everyday lens disappointment I bought this lens as an "everyday" lens at an affordable price (compared to expensive Canon lenses). It was working fine for about couple of months during which time I used it probably 10-12 times. All was fine until the AF stopped working - it made sound as if it was trying to focus but no luck. I had to disable the AF mode to focus. Not sure why it happened but I was quite disappointed with that malfunction. I contacted Amazon and they were very kind to send me a replacement despite my return deadline expiring couple of weeks earlier (thank you, Amazon!).I'm not sure what sort of "everyday" lens should I buy now that my trust on Sigma quality was ruined! Any suggestions that don't cost thousands? 2Couldn't be happier! I think this is the perfect travel lens. Who really wants to switch lenses over and over on a vacation cruise or European street? I've always thought it was a pain, especially when in a group of none enthusiasts. I have found its really nice for traveling in National and State Parks, where wildlife can show up unexpectedly at different ranges. I really couldn't be happier. I upgraded from a Tamron AF 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 XR Di II LD Aspherical (IF) (Model A14E). To me, its a night and day difference. I couldn't believe the sharpness difference. Its a little noisy, but still better than the Tamron. The weight of the lens is also not an issue. I've carried it around all day. I'll sling it over my shoulder, when I'm not expecting to shoot. Not a problem at all. I have a Canon 50d and 7d. Also added a few photos, I tweaked them with Lightroom, but most can stand on their own. I haven't done much macro yet. So I'll update, when I do. I've owned this for about 4 months. 5Great Lens! Great lens! Replaced a Sigma that quit working and this one is just as good - nice sharp photos and much lighter than the older one I had! 5Sigma...the new Canon Killer. When it comes to the perfect "walk-around" lens this one fits the bill. There are now 3 versions of this lens (a new one coming out every couple of years) but this one is by far the best. I was very impressed with the last model but this one performs better in all areas. I've had the Canon 18-135, 18-200, and the 28-135, the Canon 28-135 was probably the best competitor to this lens however the 28mm on a crop sensor was too cropped for me. I'd also say that this lens has a quieter focus than Canon lenses but I'm not sure it's quicker at focusing; it may be just as quick. Overall I am very impressed. This lens is a high recommendation in my opinion. 5This lens is a total game changer. This lens is great. It nearly eliminates the need for a telephoto and all purpose lens. The quality of my images has gone up dramatically. Depth of field and clarity is much improved over the lens that comes with most entry level DSLRs (Nikon 18-55mm) 5The first one I loved and used for travel photography I have purchased two of these lenses. The first one I loved and used for travel photography. After a year, it stopped focusing on auto focus. Being brand new to the photography world, I thought I had done something wrong. (though I never mishandle my equipment) I went ahead and bought another one, and took about 100 pictures on it before it quite focusing as well. I am very clear that on auto focus I can hear the murmur of the motor working...in both cases, there is no noise.I contact Sigma, and they wanted me to send my brand new camera (Nikon 5500) and the newest lens back to them for repair. I told them my camera was fine, and I would not be sending it--but the lens is the problem. I also had an 8 day window for my honeymoon trip to Europe to get my lens replaced, as I was not going to have a lens at all for my honeymoon. I told Sigma I was not interested in a repair. I only wanted my money back. I explained this was my second lens (both the same;18-200 zoom), and they both stopped working. I am done with Sigma lenses, as I am disappointed I could get nowhere with them for help.I have since purchased a Nikon 18-200, and I am staying with that. I got it just in time for my honeymoon. Now that I am back from my honeymoon, I have to battle it out with Sigma again. I want to send the latest lens back and get my money...not interested in a repair, as I have no faith in Sigma, now or every again.... 1All in all a very good lens. I'll come back in a few months ... Bought my 18-200 on march 8th 2015 and it has become my go to zoom for my Pentax K-3. For a relatively inexpensive zoom its very sharp through out the focal length, providing you keep the aperture a stop or two over fully open. It's relatively quiet and does not 'hunt" for focus which is a plus. All in all a very good lens. I'll come back in a few months to add information. 5
