Customer Reviews

Beware of Microsoft updates causing problems New retail package. This little wifi adaptor did the trick. It requires a driver that is easy to download. Beware of some Microsoft updates that cause this device to suddenly lose the connection. I will expect Linksys to update the driver again to accommodate Microsoft updates. Otherwise no issues. 5While web surfing is great a lot of people experience great issues in games ... So... I thought 3 or 4 stars, but finally decided to set 4. This review is mostly for people who experience issues with this adapter using it on 5Ghz frequency AC mode. While web surfing is great a lot of people experience great issues in games requiring internet connections. These issues can be disconnects, freezes and other types of lost connectivity. So first of all it's not an issue of your router, computer or even game, it's an issue in WLAN chipset which is the same for several brands Linksys WUSB6300, TP Link Archer T4U, some Netgear model. They all use the same chipset which is produced by Realtek/Mediatek. Some you of you could find "solution" to set QoS Support to Disabled option, yes that works, however I bet you didn't notice one very significant point, connect speed is decreased from normal 867Mbs to 130Mbs, you can check it and speed is decreased as well. After 3 weeks of so I finally found solution which makes all these adapters work at full AC performance with any online game.So:1. You need these drivers http://www.edimax.com/edimax/download/download/data/edimax/global/download/for_home/wireless_adapters/wireless_adapters_ac1200_dual-band/ew-7822uac theris version even for MAC OS (however I believe that any drivers are OK which provide you with control over LdpcCap and StbcCap)2. After you download them you need to update existing or install if it's clean installation, you can do this though Device Manager in Control Panel3. After this you need to go to Change adapters settings in Networking and Sharing Center4. Find your adapter and go to its properties section5. Here select Configure and go to Advanced tab6. Now you need to set LdpcCap and StbcCap settings to Disabled option (still I believe that LdpcCap is causing troubles, just for experiment purity I advice to disable both) click OK (These settings are special connectivity correcting codes, StbcCap is used with N protocol only so it's even unused with AC, LdpcCap is used with both N and draft specifications of AC "draft' is true about it :))7. Now after your adapter restarts you need reconnect it to desired 5Ghz WiFi spot and... Use it at full performanceThis solution proved to be working more than 48 hours and everything goes OK.So 4 stars for my effort :)Hope it saves your time and nerves :) 4Works great, small and easy to use. I had lots of problems with this adapter after a couple of months using it but after reading a review for a different WiFi adapter I found what appears to be a solution to the problems I was having. I have had no problem since following the steps I will list at the end of the review. The problem I was having was I would loose connection to my WiFi at least once a day and sometimes multiple times a day. I would have to pull the adapter out and wait for a minute or two and plug it back in so it would work and reconnect to my router (my computer just would no longer see I had the adapter).Linksys left the comment suggesting I download the fastest drivers from their website as it sounded like a possible corrupt driver to them. That does not appear to be the case here. What does appear to be the problem was some power settings in the computer itself. My suggestion to anyone having these kind of problem to try the steps below:1. In Windows Power Options, under Power Saving Mode, set Wireless adapter to "Maximum Performance"2. In Windows Power Options, under USB settings, set the USB Selective Suspend Setting to "Disabled"3. In Device Manager, under Network Adapters, right click on the network adapter, then properties, then Power Management and then UNCHECK the box that says "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power."Since following these steps I have had no trouble at all getting disconnected from my WiFi. 5Great when it works Updated: see belowSuper fast near max speeds when it's workingBut it doesn't always work. (Issues with Windows 10 Insider builds).I recognise it's a driver issue. And I'm very sad about that because when it DOES work it's one of the best wifi adapters I've ever used.Note to linksys: compatible with and written for are two different things! We need authentic written for, drivers for win 10!I've managed to block the updated Microsoft driver from installing by using the device panel and rolling back the driver one generation . Then blocking driver updates with a policy setting in GPE.The driver with the fall windows update is absolute junk. This should only be an issue for those in the insider program. I did NOT get the driver update on a standard schedule windows 10 pro platform. It would be nice if linksys would submit a driver to Microsoft directly. And much and many thanks to linksys for following up with me in the first place. Great support. I solved the problem on my own but it's reassuring that they reached out in the first place. 4Great USB Wifi Adaptor Bought 2 of these adaptors to take advantage of our high speed wireless internet. Our laptops are a couple of years old, and only had 2.4ghz wireless receivers in them. So we only got speeds up to 50Mbps. Popped these USB receivers into the high speed USB port and hooked up to the 5.0ghz network and have speeds of 112Mbps. Make sure you put these in high speed USB port on your computer (the blue one). I ran a download test, and my laptop downloaded a 512GB file in 29 seconds using the blue USB port and the same file took 46 seconds on a regular USB port. Both ports tested at 112Mbps using Speedtest.net, but the regular USB port is 50% slower than the high speed port.Installation was a breeze on one laptop, Windows 10 recognized it and all I had to do was go to the network center, turn off the built in wifi and using the drop down menu, connect wifi #2 to the network. On the second laptop, Windows 10 did not auto install, and I had to use the CD. But that was easy too. That laptop called the adaptor wifi #4, so I think that laptop may be confused! But both took 5 minutes to get hooked up to the network. 5consistent dropped connections and would not configure for 802.11AC with any throughput changes. had to return this.I was able to get it to "work" but I could not get it to support anything higher than my standard 5ghz standard 802.11when I try to pair it using only 802.11ac, which my router supports, i got less speed from this device than I did with my internal broadband adapter in my laptop. I went through 40 configurations between router and this adapter and i could not get this adapter to do anything more than my laptop did natively as well as I could not get this adapter to stay connected consistently. Every 3 to 4 minutes I would get a total packet losses and the connection would drop then re-initialize. Not what I call a good thing, and I am very technically savvy. Its what I do for a living.Amazon allowed me to return the item and I did, and I've received a refund, for that I am very pleased. 170 minutes on telephone with tech support and they told me to send it back I got this and spent about twenty minutes trying to install a "plug and play" device. Drivers wouldn't load automatically, from the CD, or from download. I called tech support and I spent an hour and ten minutes on the telephone while they made me re-do everything that I had already done multiple times. There was no indication of a hardware fault, the little light lights and the device shows up fine in device manager; the driver simply wouldn't install. Nevertheless, after seventy minutes of futile grasping at straws, they told me to ship it back. I guess that way I will be someone else's problem when the software won't install for the replacement either. The cost of the tech support wages over this issue exceeded the value of the product. My time is even more valuable. 1Very fast; but only install the driver Having read the reviews which indicated the adapter was very fast, but warned to not install via the setup application; I first installed the driver, let it update, and ran speed tests. Then, I ran setup.exe, not from the accompanying CD, but from the support site's downloads. The application flipped out, locked up (had to pskill), while Windows 10 kept cycling its recognition of the adapter. I ended up spending a half hour going through the registry, exporting everywhere Linksys was found, and deleting those keys relevant only to this adapter. Also uninstalled the Linksys applications from appwiz.cpl. After reboot and reinstall of the driver, I had blazingly fast speeds, even faster than initial tests. 4Useless, either broken or not/not correctly refurbished. My 3y old ubs 2.0 N300 works at max speed of the line (50Mbit), when this usb 3.0 AC600 is doing between 0.1-3Mbit.i reset all network related stuff and even removed driver and network adapter from system (incl device manager), so i know it cant be anything else than the linksys.Removed the linksys adapter and uninstalled driver and installed the "old" one after reboot, and even without any tweaks/settings change, got 35Mbit on speedtest (2 device were streaming at the time).. 1This is the first wireless AC adapter I have been ... This is the first wireless AC adapter I have been able to make work in my house. My home was wired for CAT5 back before I bought it, but the cabling is damaged going to my upstairs office, and the only way to connect my desktop to the cable router downstairs is via Wifi. I have tried 3 other adapters and they either never connected or connected unreliably. The router and adapter are only about 40 feet apart but this goes through some walls and the floor. I know AC doesn't play well with walls, but this adapter has never failed to connect, dropped signal, or given me any trouble. I stream and game online, and have experienced no difficulty. 5
