Customer Reviews

So thin you can see light through it, does not hold up under tension when secured - it tears!I bought this tarp to cover my roof while a repair for a leak was done. Once the workers installed it - I could see the white from the roof in sections - finding tiny little tears - almost like stress tears all throughout. We taped many of them and the tear that was visible when unrolled - using the tarp with no alternative. It did not survive even 24 hours - the winds blew and more little tears were visible, and without help to get it off - I had to come up with makeshift attempts to tie down the pieces that tore off and hung from the roof. Cutting sections off as I went - to the point I returned it in multiple pieces. The rain came 2 days later - thereby making it useless. You could not set this Tarp on the ground and use it for anything or it will tear - so I am not sure what it is good for - and will never buy a used Home Improvement item such as this - given it's weeks for the refund, and I wound up buying another one at a local store for much more.1Pleased with purchase Pleased with purchase. Like the reversibility of the tarp, both brown and green - natural colors in nature that don't stand out like a neon sign like the blue tarps. 5cheap Feels cheap or low quality may last one season. Good for temporary projects. I purchased the 20'x20' yet it came rectangle, explain that one. I wish I would've know this sooner, I would've returned it. 3Great for Light Duty Work I used two of these tarps and have no problem with them They are thin, but used one for pulling leaves from the backyard to the front. I did that about 5 times and it didn't tear. The other one I used as a roof for a childs fort, after a year, it started tearing a little at the bottom where i nailed it, but mostly still holding okay. I would use these again. 5Good tarp for the money.A lot of the reviews for this tarp seem to be just so-so, but that has not been my experience. First, I will warn you that it is not the thickest tarp I have, and if you snag it say on a splinter or something sharp, it will rip quickly. Having said that, the tarp has been covering my bare plywood carport roof for 3 days, being held down with bundles of shingles and also a few 2x4s that I screwed to the plywood. Winds gusted over 50mph last night, and they have been steady over 25mph for 36 hours now. The tarp is flapping and waving in the wind, but it's holding strong and the plywood is dry. Only issue is size, but maybe I didn't measure right. Even with the 29'4" finished length, it still seems to me like it is about 12 inches shorter than that. With the winds, I haven't been able to get a straight measurement on it yet to confirm.4It serves its purpose Definitely not a heavy duty tarp, but it saved me money and serves its purpose. Canopy covers and awnings are expensive, so for $30 it's keeping the leaves out of my kids pool, which makes this momma happy. I don't see it lasting all that long, it's weave is a little loose, so if you're trying to cover something very valuable, get a thicker tarp, but if you just want a cheap pool cover that's not blue, this is the way to go! 5Don't buy! Paper thin junk! If you need a cheap tarp that tears easily, and probably won't stand up in the wind, then this is for you. Holes were going through it as I used it the 1st time. When I'm done with my temporary 1st use, it's going in the garbage. No point in trying to fold it up and save it. I compared it to an older tarp I had in use, and the older one was 2-3 times thicker and reinforced around the edges. 1Description is WrongWithout going into the background (a messed up Amazon delivery that left me having to hurry to put these tarps in place in the dark, in mud), I found out these tarps are notably smaller than described. Sadly, I found that out at a very bad time, when I was squeezed for time and could not afford to deal with this kind of problem.I had survey flags on the ground marking off 14' distances. I counted on the 16' length of this tarp to allow 2' of overlap when I laid out the tarps. When I opened and unfolded the tarps, I found the 14' side wasn't long enough to go from one of my flags to the next. The 16' side was barely longer than that 14'. I'd estimate the real size of this tarp as 13.5' x 14.5', at most. It's definitely NOT 16' long!As to the quality of the tarp, from what I read, I did not expect it to be a thick tarp. That's not what I needed. I would not use this tarp for hauling leaves or holding anything. It can work as cover to keep things dry, but not to hold or contain anything. If the size given in the description were accurate, I would have been quite satisfied and given it a 5 star rating, since it would be as described. But I was counting on this tarp to be the size in the description. Because it's not, my work will be set back at least a week and I have to continue fighting erosion. If I were not stuck with these tarps late at night, when I had to cover the ground before it rained, I would have just returned them.2Good Tarp If You Understand What It Can and Can't DoI have used tarps like this in the past, and recommend using it where it can do the job. If you do that, it will serve you well. What it can't do: -- It can't replace a strong canvas tarp. It rips and tears easily, or if pulled tight against something sharp. -- Don't expect the tarp to not rip out the grommets if you have a lot of strong winds. -- It won't last forever. Sun and soft rubbing will eventually cause a hole to fray through. What it can do: -- It is waterproof (unless it rips). It will keep whatever is underneath it dry. -- If you are careful and choose jobs it can do, it should last at least three years. The down-and-dirty: This tarp, if ripped or frayed, will break down into strands of plastic. If you don't do anything to fix that issue, you will have strands tangling in other items in your yard. To fix, use duct tape. Tape on both sides for max hold, and easier to fix small tears before they expand to holes with strands flying about. Once you know it can rip or tear, you can do things to help it. My last tarp kept my wood (not always the smoothest items) dry for two years. Last year (third year) I didn't repair the tiny rips and had some wet wood. This year, I folded the old tarp and placed it on top of my wood pile (picture rows about 15 feet long, 5 feet deep). The folded old tarp protects the new tarp from sharp points as well as fraying when the wind blows. Expecting the new tarp to last at least three years if not longer due to the old tarp protecting it. Very satisfied.5You get what you pay forThis is the lightest-duty tarp I have ever worked with--very thin. Not that I am an expert in tarps, but I have certainly used a few in my day. On the one hand, it is very nice that it doesn't weigh that much, and for my purposes, that's a plus. However, I'm not super confident that it will not rip a hole in the near future...Speaking of holes, mine had a small hole in it when I first unfolded it--perhaps with a total area of a square inch... maybe less. Given that the tarp has an area of 1200 square feet, that's fairly insignificant. My main concern is that it may grow...And speaking of unfolding it for the first time, I thought I'd mention that doing so was a bit of a challenge--the tarp seemed to stick to itself slightly and was so light weight and large that it took a bit of time to get it all laid out mostly flat. This would have been much easier with 3 or 4 people instead of just me, but I don't seem to recall ever having a tarp stick to itself like that. I thought it was odd. No stars off, just a side note.At this price point, I can overlook a small hole and if it rips after a few uses, I think I can still give it 4 stars. If you want something that will last, you'll have to pay more for it. Probably quite a bit more.4It is not a true 20' x 20'. it ... It is not a true 20' x 20'. it starts as 20' x 20' then the hem is put in also two grommets were missing. All in all for 20 + dollars it does its job. 3Cheap, good for a drop cloth but not durable This tarp is cheaply made. It isn t suitable for yardwork or protecting anything as a durable cover. It s more suitable as a drop cloth. 2Absolute junk and shady advertising You can tell it s crap the moment you take it out of the box and see that they carefully hid the fact that the actual tarp is not working 20x20. Yeah, I know they say so in the details (because I looked for it after this piece of paper showed up wrapped in a cardboard box, honestly the box might be more weather resistant than the tarp), but the product name says 20x20 and they coincidentally didn t write any measurements at all in the place for it in the picture. I ll give you three guesses if they did that on purpose or not. Plus, it s a total crap tarp, you would dobe better to spend the same on plastic drop cloth and get 100 times as much. Do not waste your time. 1Really, really TEMPORARYSeemed good at first and has held up under mild weather for maybe the first three months. Doesn't tear easily and the grommets have held.Bought because our camper has an elusive leak, rained this weekend and it leaked like the tarp wasn't even there.I climbed up top to see if there was a rip and observed there is a sort of seam that joined two smaller pieces to make the large tarp. The entire length of the tarp, this seam is just a loose web with the coating completely gone. With so many holes, the tarp probably traps more water on the roof than no tarp at all.I get it, this wasn't super expensive but no one expects complete failure in under 6 months of non-challenging weather. This brand always seems to have nearly 5-stars but the reviews are always terrible. Weird! I won't buy again.1DON'T BUY IF YOU NEED WATERPROOF!DON'T BUY THIS IF YOU NEED WATERPROOF!!!! I was having flooring put into my house so needed to store my furniture out on a back patio deck. It rained during the week I had it stored. When I removed the tarp to bring the furniture back in, I found one area (OF COURSE IT HAD TO HAVE BEEN RIGHT OVER A PRESSED WOOD DESK THAT DOESN'T TAKE GETTING WET!) that was really wet. I couldn't see a tear in the tarp but I could watch water dripping in from several areas - it was like cheesecloth instead of being waterproof. It's lightweight and easy to use but that could be the problem for keeping out water. It is VERY THIN.1Listen to the guy who said "Don't buy." He was onto something... Luckily, I had to use this tarp as a protective covering for the floor. Unluckily, the tarp had some ripped lines and patches. Luckily I was able to cover the tarp with a cheaper plastic covering. Unluckily, the condition of the product was so bad that I couldn't return it. Luckily, I just threw it away after usage. Unluckily, I realized that I dropped about $25 for a piece of torn plastic.Don't buy this product if you need non-ripped, non-patchy, non-destroyed, usable tarp. Buy it for everything else. If you would like some sun lines on that new paint job or some extra drops of water on your wood for extra charm and character, go for it. It also makes for a good statement piece in the trash bin. I hope it's recyclable... 1Very thin but can cover small cities.First of all, 20'x30' is ridiculously large. If you're thinking you need a large tarp and say to yourself, "20x30 is big and I need a big tarp, I'll just buy this one" you're in for a real interesting discovery when you open the package. Just when you think you've opened the last fold, you find more folds. I'm not entirely certain that this tarp doesn't extend into dimensions not comprehensible by the human brain.Okay, you need this giant tarp for some reason. Maybe you have to cover a baseball infield or an olympic-sized swimming pool, I don't know. Something you shouldn't use it for is to cover pointy things or as a base for a heavily-trafficked area, or anywhere people might walk on it to be honest. It's pretty thin. That being said, I used this tarp on a campout and it didn't tear. Well, I say "used" when I really mean that I fought a losing battle trying to prevent an enormous blue rectangle monster from escaping on the winds of freedom. So when I factor in the battle and capture of this animal I gotta respect the durability a little bit at least.I don't know if I'll ever find a use for this tarp, mainly because unleashing it from captivity is an all-day long affair. But if I decide that I want to double-wrap my Escalade in blue plastic I certainly have the ability to do so.3A Decent Cheap TarpIt's okay. First, its the cheapest you'll find for this size anywhere, so its fine given the price; however, for my needs (placed under my Intex Pool), I wished now that I purchased two because they're fairly thin and the weaving is cheap. I don't expect it to last long, but for the price you honestly cannot complain because anything really solid, think and as big as this will cost you double the price.3Great for the price Worked well. Not very thick but overall great for the price. 4Great on baseball fieldOur youth baseball organization bought 2 of these tarps to help keep our fields dry. So far they've worked great. We've used them 3 times and no problems. Tarps built for baseball fields are way too expensive for us so this one seems to get the job done just as good. The biggest concern was durability and these tarps seem pretty tough. The tarps have been pulled/dragged everywhere very hard by a crew of guys and have held up. No tears or rips. We use some big spikes in the grommets to keep it from flying away and no rips there so far. The toughest part with these tarps is getting them rolled back up and stored when not in use. We don't have a roller so folding it up is a pain but that doesn't have anything to do with how good they work. So far so good.5
