Speedy Upgrade From Wireless N. Pay Attention To The Card Version You Receive. I upgraded my Dell XPS 2720's Wireless N Card to this Intel 7260 card. As you can see from the speed test, I am maxing out my Xfinity connection as if I was connected to a wire.So far I've ordered 5 of these from ComegaCity and had to return 4 because they weren't the R (Revised) version as advertised. Make sure you get what you pay for and if you don't, leave negative seller feedback so these "companies" pay better attention to the parts they are selling. 3What I liked most was that in the description and item title ... What I liked most was that in the description and item title this is a Intel 7260.HMWG.R. The ".R" means "Revised".What I liked least was the item I received was the older unrevised version. The anti static bag was labeled the revised one but the numbers on the card indicated by Intel's documentation that it isn't.It may work out just fine as the older version had compatibility and stable connection issues on some computers. It seems to be working good in my system so far. It's frustrating to do your homework just to turn around and have someone cheat you. I have since read other reviews stating the same. 1Works with older DELL laptops. Not many issues with it. I went from 54mbps to 300mbps. Just be prepared to do the following.1. Go to the following website: downloadcenter(.).intel(.)com(/)product(/)75439/Intel-Dual-Band-Wireless-AC-7260(You know what to remove for that to work) and download the latest driver packages for your configuration (wireless AND Bluetooth)2. Shut down laptop, remove external power supply, and battery then swap out card (laptops vary. Google/YouTube is your friend).3. when finished, close up, re-install the battery, boot up and UNINSTALL any old Dell (or other brand) wireless control software.4. Install the new Intel software packages5. setup your wireless information and go!Not that difficult other than locating the driver packages. And for the price, this is a BIG update for an older laptop that is G only and no Bluetooth!(Note: Edited to fix the URL getting cut out.) 5Solid Network Card So far works great on my Dell Latitude E6430 Laptop. Removed my stock network card, popped this one in there, connected the 2 antena cables, downloaded Bluetooth and Network Drivers from Intel's website and I am on the network at 866Mbps. I own a Netgear R8500 Nighthawk X8 WIFI Router and signal is consistent.I did a 1.5GB file copy from my windows server which has a 1Gb Wire Network Card, and the file copu to my laptop averaged about 30MB (That's Megabites, not Megabits) so a solid file transfer. If you are a techie, technically 30MB translates to a transfer speed of 240Mbps so if you do the math, there were about 626Mbps of the possible bandwidth that were not used.Technical details aside, this is a solid network card, much better netwprk connection than my stock network card which connected only as high as 72Mbps. 5For those of you with BT not coming on or other issues, read on I purchased a card here and while I have not installed mine I do have a friend who asked me to install her card and it had all the issues listed here such as AC band or BT not working or other issues. She has an Acer 5742G which is a few years old but not obsolete by any means. When I installed this card in her laptop it became unbelievably slow. I am talking about 20 minutes to boot up instead of the usual 3-4. Even when it booted into Windows 7 everything ran really slow. Wireless showed up and would connect but BT was nowhere to be found. I removed the card and installed the old one, everything ran smoothly. I did research to see if it was a BIOS issue since some manufacturers like HP and Lenovo code so-called "whitelists" or what products are certified, or more like allowed, to work on the laptop. Acer does not use whitelists so I continued to be baffled and thought it was just a compatibility problem, a bad card or something wrong with the laptop itself. While searching on the Acer site I found a post that mentioned these problems with the same laptop and wlan card and low and behold they found a solution: to tape off pin #51 and maybe even pin #20 on the card. It seems Intel uses these pins to provide on/off signals for the BT function and of course they didn't seem to think about backwards compatibility for older laptops or even newer ones that don't support this.I taped off pin #51 with regular scotch tape and the laptop started up normally recognized all the wireless radios, including bluetooth. I let Windows download and install the drivers for everything and tested the wifi and bt functions: all is working perfectly. It has been about 3 days and she has not reported any problems. She said her bt mouse, keyboard and headset all work fine without any type of audio choppiness or lag the usb bt module she was using caused. She does not have an AC router so I cannot attest to that part but the wireless N was working great and getting speeds of 500 when transferring large files. I hope this can help others here who have been suffering from the same problems.https://www.google.com/url?sa=i&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=images&cd=&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0CAcQjRw&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.elektroda.pl%2Frtvforum%2Ftopic2901200.html&ei=HcxfVaTiKomagwSW8IGADQ&bvm=bv.93990622,d.eXY&psig=AFQjCNFE4vXlojVuVh3Zmcv5e3nWe1Iw_A&ust=1432427900389760If this doesn't work just google 7260 AC Pin 51 and you will get plenty of results. 5Works perfectly for the Dell XPS L701X. However don't forget to unplug the old bluetooth card & update the wireless drivers! This card worked perfectly in my Dell XPS L701X (and most the L702X). Although I needed to open the laptop (yep, under the keyboard), it was pretty speedy to unplug the old 6200 Wireless N card and replace it with this 7260 Wireless AC card. A video can be found on YouTube to instruct you how to swap this card out. Windows 10 drivers picked this card up immediately after I booted up, so all was good, however I strongly suggest you download the latest drivers from Intel (link below)A couple of notes:1. Because this card contains Bluetooth 4.0 support along with Wireless AC, you should unplug this laptop's old, separate Bluetooth 2.0 card while the computer is open, found under the right side of the palmrest.2. Because the default Windows 10 drivers are older, I strongly recommend downloading & installing the MUCH newer 7260 Bluetooth *AND* 7260 WiFi drivers (for Windows 7, even if you have a Windows 10 machine) from Intel's web site by doing a Google search for "Intel 7260 Drivers" 5Another bait and switch via Amazon knockoffs Simple bait and switch like so many other reviewers...same old story of Amazon Chinese knockoffs once again. Hopefully you can see the Model numbers in my attached pics.Package label states Model "7260.HMWG.R" while the label on the chip clearly marked Model "7260.HMW" and not return eligible.....yup, about done with Amazon and back to brick and mortar. What else can I say? Didn't even attempt to use it b/c of that alone. 1If the SPS number isn't 784639-005, then you're being ripped off. If the SPS number isn't 784639-005, then you're not getting the .R that you're paying a premium for. Leave negative seller feedback if this happens, as they know what cards they're sending out. You can find a detailed guide on these cards and revisions direct from the manufacturer with a simple internet search. Buyer beware. 1A Good wifi card for a speedy internet connection A Good wifi card for a speedy internet connection. The connection is very stable and fast as expected of an Intel's product.I put it in a Vaio E series laptop (specific model number SVE1411EGXB for anyone wondering). The laptop was produced in 2011 and don't have an On/Off wireless switch. At first, the computer recognizes the wifi card with all driver install stated it is working properly. However, I cannot turn on Wifi. Spend a day troubleshooting and nothing help. Finally, try the tapping method I found on Google, where you specifically use electric tape (other tapes work too but I recommend electric tape) to tape pin 20 and 51 of the card (these pins allow the computer to turn the card off). After taping the two pins, the wifi and Bluetooth work great and very stable. (pin 51 is on the side where you connect the antenna while pin 20 is on the back of your wifi card) 5NOT AN AC CONNECTION (It's N) Don't waste your money. I also received the non-R version, as many people have found. Disappointed that this seller would bait-and-switch. In addition, the card worked for a day and then crapped out and no longer connects to the internet. I had to dig through the trash for my old card. So much for the "upgrade." 1
