Customer Reviews

Versatile new kitchen tool I was a beta tester of this product. I was skeptical at first because I'm famous for resisting change, but I quickly became a believer as I began to rely on it to do things faucets don't normally do. My favorite actions so far:- Ask Delta to dispense two quarts into my pasta pot and walk away because the faucet will turn off when two quarts are dispensed.- Ask Delta to dispense one cup of water directly into my mixing bowl. Or a quarter cup, or 100 ml when working with my favorite Swedish recipes, and so on.- Ask Delta to fill my water bottle (I created a custom container and specified the volume). Ditto for pet fountain. Ditto for tea mug. 5Great faucet and customer service I bought this faucet in August of 2017. Today is February 9th, 2018, and the touch sensor is having problems. I called Delta, and they were great. They were aware of a solenoid problem and had it redesigned, so I imagine that any faucet sold as of today will work perfectly. I learned that the solenoid has a 5 year warrantee. which will start over for a full 5 years on this redesigned replacement. I was told that it is an easy fix to swap out the parts, and that if I had any problems installing it, there is a video online to guide me. Aadditionally I can call in to Delta and they will walk me through the process. Here's why I love it: When my hands are covered in dough, sauce or any food I'm preparing, I can just touch the faucet with the back of my hand and it is activated. When I am cooking, I rinse my hands so many times, that pushing the handle on and off can become a bother. This faucet makes a huge difference for me. The only downside for me is that when I am at my other sink in the kitchen, I keep touching the faucet as if it should come on automatically! I'll consider getting another Delta touch faucet for that sink as well. 5Touch2O is a NO GO I have never written a one star review before but feel it is important that you understand this faucet. If you have a stainless sink (or metal of any kind) DO NOT buy this faucet. Delta is not helpful in helping solve the issues with this faucet and do not have written instructions anywhere in the box or online to help solve the "shorting out" issue. Because of the cellanoid function required to actually make the touch feature work, it will short out if you get the metal from the faucet anywhere near the metal sink. Uh, this is impossible to avoid. So we (as advised by Delta, one of my 7 conversations with them) wrapped the shaft of the faucet with electrical tape (or the said to wrap the sink with electrical tape??!!). This helped for a moment when the faucet would come on, but then would not go off. Please save yourself the headache and the $$ from several visits from our plumber and buy a different faucet. The faucet works fine without the touch function, but who wants to pay $400 for a plain old faucet.Amazon tried to be helpful but they are not the seller so I am stuck. I will update this post if we get it working but are out of energy in trying to get this faucet to function. 1Loved this faucet, but it started leaking internally after a few years :( When new, this faucet was great. I bought in December 2013. As of October 2017, it leaks in two places. It drips out the aerator, so I assume it needs a new cartridge already. Worse, it leaks internally & drips down the plastic supply hoses, where it has started to damage the cabinet. (See attached picture.) I will try to replace the cartridge and see if it solves both problems, but this is a huge design defect if a bad cartridge causes an internal housing leak. Search for the key word "leak" in the reviews, and you will see others have experienced this same internal-leak problem. I recommend finding an alternate faucet, perhaps one with metal supply hoses. Finally, I'm concerned all the positive reviews are from folks who haven't had this faucet long enough to experience the long-term lack of durability. If you buy it, please check for leaks often! 1Broke in 3 years of Normal Use and Apparently that's not Uncommon Broke in less than 3 years under normal usage conditions. Delta does have a warranty and I called their Customer Service. They were fast and helpful. They told me the disc inside these faucets are what is usually broken in them and it is an easy fix. They sent one right out to me and I changed it out myself inside the handle in about 10 minutes. (I opened the old disc and it wasn't cracked like they said it likely was.) It didn't fix the problem and the leaking from the bottom of the faucet into my cabinet continued to get worse. I called back and they immediately sent me a new faucet. So I give their Customer Service 5 stars. However, I can't be satisfied with a faucet that broke with 3 years of use, especially since the "free" replacement faucet cost me $200 to replace (two plumber visits and installation for the second one). All in I figure I now have about $600 (including $300 to install 2 of them) in a faucet I've had less than 4 years and will likely go through it again in a few years when it's no longer under warranty. Add to that the leaking under the sink was fairly significant and a decent sized mess that we luckily caught earlier than we could have. I am keeping a bin under the faucet in that cabinet from now on for when it breaks again. Apparently, whatever was broken in mine was one thing, and the disc thing that they had me replace first is something that they were used to seeing. So - buyer beware on this model. Hopefully their other faucets aren't so flawed. 2Love this faucet! I'm super into the whole smart home thing and when I discovered this sink I had to have it. I have had a delta touch sink for 6 years and it's amazing! I've only had to replace the batteries twice in that time. This one uses 6 AA batteries instead of 4 on my old one. This also needs to be plugged into an outlet. It says not to use an outlet with a switch because it usually goes to the garbage disposal, but as a work around, put the garbage disposal on a smart outlet and leave the switch on. Now I just tell Alexa to start the garbage disposal. Installation was pretty straight forward and setup was so easy. I just turned the faucet on so the light was on but no water running and connected the phone to the delta wifi then opened a browser to the IP address in the instructions and the setup walked you through everything. It actually dispenses the correct amount of water too! And customizing different items is a breeze! The only disappointing thing is that it does not come with a baseboard to cover up extra holes if you already have some drilled. I'm getting a new sink that only has 1 hole so it works fine for me. Also the baseboard they recommend is currently $75! Ouch! Should totally come with that and not have to pay extra. 5Worked great at the start Worked great at the start, 3.5 years later not so great. Rust has formed around the pull down hose and the magnetic clasp where the pull down spray wand meets the faucet neck. The switch to choose spray or stream requires a good amount of force to change as well. 1Love this faucet after weeks of research First let me start out by saying I sometimes wish I could go back to the days when internet was not available and the only 'research' I did was reading the information on the boxes at the store. With that being said, I know I spent way too much time of my life reading reviews on pull down faucets and going to Home Depot and Lowe's multiple times to test out various features. It came to a point I had to hide what I was doing from my husband because he could not believe that I had not picked a faucet yet. I just really want to get the best product for our money and needs.I narrowed down my search quickly to just Delta faucets because they are the only brand that has a Magnatite docking system so the faucet head stays in place. From other reviewers, a big pet peeve was that the faucet heads of various brands eventually hung down and would not stay securely docked. I was standing in Lowe's staring at all the faucets and an employee asked if I needed help. I said no, I have already done so much research, just trying to narrow it down. He said, well I will offer this one bit of info, go for the delta with the magnet because I just installed this one (referring to a moen) for my mother and the faucet head constantly hangs down. I just installed this faucet on 12/29/13 and have only been using it for 2 days, but I LOVE the magnet docking system!!You may be saying, why is she writing a review after only 2 days? I am just so excited about this faucet and could certainly comment on installation, look, size, and function. Of course, I will update this review after months and maybe years regarding durability. I do dislike when people give a 4 or 5 star rating but say, "I haven't used it yet, but it looks like a great product, can't wait to try it". Really? That doesn't help me one bit. I want to provide you with hopefully valuable information to help drive your decision just as I relied on the reviews from others. There was an error with my first shipment of the faucet (missing pull down head). Went on live chat that evening (Friday 12/21) and amazon quickly took care of the problem and confirmed delivery of new faucet on Monday 12/23. I simply attached the pre-paid postage to the box and dropped off at UPS. Kudos to Amazon for making it right. Some of my concerns based on other reviewer comments:Weight of faucet: too flimsy. I didn't think that at all. I feel like it is a sturdy, quality piece especially at the base of the unit. Yes, the pull down part is plastic but that is common simply because the extra weight would be too much (as per delta site). I'm ok with it because it doesn't look cheap.Color has a bluish tint: I have read mixed reviews when others have questioned this. Some say they think it matches their stainless sink perfectly with no bluish tone. I would have to disagree. I also got a brand new stainless steel sink and the faucet is a slightly darker color (bluish tint) but even with me being very picky, this doesn't bother me at all.The range of movement of the handle. ***This would have been a deal breaker for me and one part of the faucet I agonized about mainly because this is not sold in stores (around me anyway) so I couldn't get my hands on it to try it. I had the builder grade single handle on top with a nice 180 degree movement side to side to go from hot to cold. With the side load handle, many people complained that it was difficult to find that 'sweet spot' for warm water. It was either hot or cold because the range of movement of the handle was so little. My sister has another delta model and before even thinking about replacing my faucet, I noticed this annoying detail at her house and complaining (to myself) that it was hard to find the middle temp. And, others say that the faucet is left running unless you bring it back to the middle section. For those who are not familiar with the side handles, to turn water on/off you pull the handle to the right (away from the faucet) and back to the left or side/side. Hot/cold is up and down but it is on a ball and socket type fixture so it's not just strictly up/down. I tested many handles out at HD and Lowe's and instantly could take a 1/2 dozen off my list because of the handles only moving less than 90 degrees. This faucet has a Euro style fixture. The handle position at cold sits at 12 o'clock. It does not go past that so it would be good if you have concerns about the handle hitting the backsplash. I don't have this issue because I have a corner set sink but again my concern was the degree of movement from cold to hot. The handle moves forward (pulling toward me) only to the 9 o'clock position. It really is enough movement and I can very smoothly move from cold to hot with varying temperatures with no problem. Phew!!!! I can even shut the water off in the hot position (9 o'clock) and it is fully off. If you look in the comments section on other reviews, I asked this question (movement of handle) and they also confirmed that it was not a problem.Installation: I have always been intimidated about fixtures but this was incredibly easy to install. The directions were very detailed. Many complained of poor instructions on other models but were able to 'figure it out'. This would not be good for me because I need details especially since I have never installed a faucet. Now, it was especially easy because I installed a new sink all together so accessing it was not a problem as it was done with the sink on my dining room table! So, your set up under your sink will determine ease of installation but the steps itself were very easy. I had to use the escutcheon plate because this is a 1 hole faucet and I didn't want to use the stainless plugs in the other holes. Delta made it sound like you needed this specific plate for the Trinsic faucet, which was quite expensive by the way- around $55 I think. The width of the plate is a bit larger than the beveled edges on the sink so I will have to apply some clear caulking to the tiny gaps. I probably could have used a universal one but this looks beautiful. Another reviewer said the plate was not meant for a drop in SS sink because there was a metal piece hanging down through the sink hole. I asked delta about this and they said it could be used with a drop in. I see what the reviewer was talking about....there is a metal piece that drops down where the stud attaches. For some reason the plate is not just a flat metal piece that sits flush on the top of the sink. I'm guessing the drop piece gives a flatter surface for the mounting washer to lie against. We'll see if it holds up over time.Automatic retraction of faucet head into unit: Some complained that they had to give a little push to guide it up to the unit. Yes, it doesn't automatically get 'sucked in' to the unit but that doesn't bother me. I wouldn't want that anyway as I would risk damaging the unit by having the faucet head ram into the top unit every time I let go. You could play around with the magnet (under the sink) I suppose but why bother. But It also isn't getting 'stuck'. Some mentioned using silicone to help the retraction.Drips: Ok, so I have noticed that there is 1 or 2 leftover drips after I have turned the water off or especially after I have toggled from spray to stream. It is not constant and I will just keep an eye on it.Mammoth faucet: I was aware of the measurements of the faucet before ordering (almost 16" high) but honestly it doesn't look that big. It may be because I do have a huge sink (33"wide). I also went from a double bowl to a single bowl and from 8" depth to 9" depth. It fits nicely and in fact It looks a little smaller and I thought they sent me the bar faucet by mistake. It does splash a little more when I am in spray mode but my sink is 9" so I would expect it.In the end, I am extremely happy with my decision. It is beautiful and sleek and I highly recommend this faucet. I will keep you informed about the durability but I'm also glad this is a lifetime warranty.Update: 9/27/14. Absolutely no regrets! It is working great. I love this faucet so much.Update: 12/30/15. Still LOVE this faucet. No drips. I did recently notice some leaking from the pull down spout; however, it was just the screw was loose that secures the tubing to the pull down piece. I just chalk that up to the kids handling it and using the pull down part a lot and they aren't exactly gentle! I just tightened it and no further problems. I have also accidentally whacked the spout when rinsing big pots or pans and it didn't break it or deny the spout.Update: 1/23/17. It's been awhile since I updated! I am still happy with my faucet. I do still have the leak coming from the pull down spout. When the water is running in stream and spray, there's a drip at the same time. The leak is actually coming from the top of the pull down spout. When the water is off, it does not continue to leak. Now, I have not called the company yet, I probably shoud. What I really love about this faucet is the Magnatite feature. The faucet never just "hangs" and the recoil of the pull down spout works perfectly. I never have to force it back up. Maybe this just has to do with the weight that is hanging on the tubing under the sink, but all I know is my mom has a pull down faucet (not sure of brand) and it is so annoying when it just hangs there. The finish of the faucet still looks beautiful after 3 years of cleaning and I don't use any special product- any spray cleaner does a good job. Not sure what there is left to say about this faucet. I guess my next review will be in 10 years commenting on durability!! Peace out..... 5A good idea, with poor implementation (Updated) The upgrades to this model were not adequate to fix the overall reliability issues with the faucet. You'll note that most reviews are from relatively new owners of this faucet. This is my second, and both have mechanically failed rather quickly (the first in 18 months, the second in 9 months).Delta made several improvements to this version of the faucet. A waterproof battery compartment and nylon hose to replace the previous metal hose. But the magnetic ring that holds the spray head in place is simply a plastic-wrapped magnet. It rusts out, swells, and causes the spray head to sit at a canted angle (very noticeable) and eventually to not snap in place. We were refused warranty service on our first faucet, but invested in a second because my wife thought it was pretty. She's "pretty" done with Delta. I've called them twice, and submitted three warranty request in their temperamental web form. No help. Just a lot of time on hold.Sorry Delta, I think it's a good idea. But you have to back it up with a solid build and actual customer service. A $450 faucet needs to last more than 9-18 months. Maybe you should label it a "disposable" faucet?Normally I would give two stars for the idea. But an utter lack of customer support brings no pity from me as a consumer.(UPDATE). After weeks of ignoring me I left this poor review. Magically that evening the half dozen earlier requests were all replied to! Must have been a problem with the unicorns. Anyway I was shipped a kit to replace the known faulty part without having to contact Delta again. The part was easy to replace and worked like a charm.I ve increased my rating, because it really is a nice faucet and my wife loves it (so I do too). I m a bit miffed they respond to Amazon more than their customers. But... we all know this is the new American way so I won t grouse. It s fixed and I have three new parts so expect it to work fine for a couple of years. Onward and upward. 4Leaks and leaks and leaks... warranty not as anticipated Leaks and leaks and leaks... warranty does not replace. After three plumber visits to replace parts...plumber says it must be replaced. Cabinet base is warped and must be replaced.I purchased this faucet when I did a kitchen remodel. Loved the idea of it. Loved the reviews. Installed it...All was good for about 18 months. Discovered water under the sink right before Thanksgiving dinner... giant mess. Remembered warranty, came back to Amazon and called the customer service number. Intelligent, confidence instilling young man helped me through the conversation, shipped me a replacement part, and directed me to a you tube video to do my own repair. Leak stopped/slowed.A month later...water under the sink again. Called to complain. Again, decent customer service... I asked for a replacement... they said warranty didn't cover entire product replacement, just part replacement. Fine print.... I agreed slowly, they sent me second part. This time I hired a plumber, assume my work was shoddy thus the re-leak. At that time plumber said... "I'll replace the part, but this is not the problem, it will re-leak." I was so sure of the warranty, I persisted. Plumber replaced part...leak slowed. I didn't even notice the occasional water under the sink that has now warped the baseboard of the cabinet.About a year later... I noticed lots of water under the sink. Giant mess. My husband called the plumber. Plumber came, said he has seen this before. Warranty doesn't cover replacement. Plumber offered to write a letter to explain it is a bad product but he said the company likely won't honor it, they only cover parts. This is a bad faucet. Not sure why but it has cost me more energy and damage than I ever anticipated for a lifetime warranty. If they had just replaced the product after the second time, I would have honored this and given them five stars. But lifetime warranty does not mean lifetime warranty. Buyer Beware! 1
