Customer Reviews

It's Like Having a New Laptop I made the mistake of installing Windows 64 bit version in my laptop, which only had 2 gigs of RAM. The speed was less than stellar, to say the least. I found out my mistake: use 32 bit versions of Windows in systems with 2 gigs of RAM, and 64 bit versions if you have 4 or more gigs of RAM. So I purchased this 4 gig kit, watched some videos on YouTube about how to change the RAM in my specific laptop, and installed this RAM. It's like having a whole new laptop! I thought it was great I got actual Crucial brand, NEW RAM modules at the low price offered here. 5Well worth the money to salvage a travel notebook Upgraded my travel notebook, a Gateway EC1803u which originally came with 2GB (1GBx2) 555MHz RAM running Windows Vista. It had become virtually unusable after upgrading to Windows 7, so I wanted to see if upgrading to 4GB RAM would make a difference before throwing the notebook away and buying a new one. After searching for the correct memory modules and confirming what I had found using CrucialScan.exe, I ordered these on Amazon. Shipping was fast and installation was very easy, although being a novice, I did look at a "how-to" video online for my specific laptop brand before attempting the memory swap. After the swap, it is night and day. My notebook, though still slow, is definitely much more responsive. Only regrets, I wish I had done this sooner and I wish I could upgrade to 8GB, but looks like 4GB is max for my notebook. 5Quicker computer, and no more memory slot dust bunnies! My 2008 iMac had slowed down to a practically unusable level. I was waiting for new iMacs, but they seem to be nowhere near being released so I gave up and bought more memory instead. The computer is now so much faster, I plan to try to keep it for two more iMac releases if new problems don't arise. Even if it only makes it to the next release, it was worth it. It is already older than any I've had before but they haven't changed much in the last six years so I can't get too excited about upgrading.I am running Yosemite. I still have an occasional visit from the beach ball, but email loads in less than a second instead of 5-15 seconds each. I used to spend most of my computer time watching the beach ball. It was very easy to install and while I was in there, I got rid of six and a half years of dust bunnies. 5A Perfect Solution To Upgrade Laptop Memory I was looking to upgrade the memory on my Dell laptop. It came with 2 single 1 GB cards which was insufficient to handle the full set of software including my remote security cameras. The Crucial 4 GB kit was well rated in the literature and the price from Amazon was better than was available from local retailers. The kit arrived in a well constructed plastic case which held the 2 cards so snugly that I had to try a couple of times to get the cards to pop out without me exerting too much pressure on the cards or touching the pins. Installation was a snap but you have to get the angle of entry right (about 45degrees) and the plastic pin on the card to fit the slot on the mounting plate. Don't force the card down until you are confident with the alignment. The side spring latches should be held open and they should snap into place with an audible click when released. The other thing to make sure is that you discharge any static electricity on your person before and during installation. Especially important this time of year when the heat is on and humidity is low. After replacing the cover plate and battery, I rebooted the lap top and windows recognized and verified the existence of the new hardware. A simple install even for a newbie installer like me!I strongly recommend this kit. 5A fast laptop now I installed these two in a Toshiba Satellite_L455D-S5976 laptop which has had some odd problems, yet the original 2GB stick tested good over and over. It finally gave it up when I gave it a huge workout to convert 10 flv videos into mp4. With this load the stick finally showed badNow the same converting is going without a hitch with one new stick, and when I installed the second one the laptop is running faster than when it is brand new. One last note. While seeming adequate, I would not expect Windows 7 work well with just 2GB. Maybe XP 5Early 2008 iMac 24" I expected the performance of my 2008 iMac to improve by upgrading from 2GB to 4GB but I didn't expect such a dramatic and noticeable difference as what I experienced. Wow. Great investment. Programs launch with minimal delay (nearly instantly) now where I would get at least 2 or 3 icon bounces and significant delay before launch before the upgrade. Thinking about installing a SSD next! With just the RAM upgrade, I just added a couple of years onto the usable lifecycle of this 4 year old machine. 5Compatible with my Dell D630 Thanks to the other reviewers confirming this memory package works for the Dell D630. I just upgraded to the 64-bit version of Windows 7 with the full intention to increase my RAM memory to at least 4GB. The 4GB package appears to be the best price/performance combination right now. I pre-installed the Win7 OS w/my original 2GB of RAM before I installed the 4GB RAM just to make sure the OS upgrade is fully functional.I've done a memory upgrade previously on my daughter's D620 but that was over 5 years ago, so I wanted to take a refresher on the RAM installation process via a posted YouTube video (particularly the one installed behind the keyboard). The whole thing is plug and play. Power down the laptop, remove the battery, replace the memory module behind the keyboard, replace the memory behind the memory door, power it back up, wait for the system to recognize the memory change, then it's all done. Took me less than 10 minutes total. This is an easy and relatively inexpensive way to update your laptop. Crucial never failed me yet so I keep going back. This item is an incredible value from Amazon as well. 5Works For Dell Latitude D630 My Dell Latitude D630 came with 2GBs of DDR2 Ram: specifically Hynix 2x1 GB 2Rx16 PC2-5300S module which works fine most of the time. However, with avast running in the background sometimes it get bugged down when I am downloading large files such as during Metastock data updates. Following this upgrade everything now runs smoothly regardless of how many programs I am running simultaneously. My laptop runs Windows XP Professional 32 bits. That of course means that my system only sees 3.49GBs of the 4GBs installed memory. The only way to get the laptop to see the entire installed 4GBs of ram is to upgrade to 64 bits operating system such as windows XP 64 bits or Windows 7 64 bits. Nevertheless, I am happy with the performance of my laptop as it is now.NB: Upgrading the memory in Dell laptops can be a pain for a non-techie especially the Inspiron and Latitude series. This is because Dell engineers in their infinite wisdom decided to hide module A ram under the keyboard of all places. To get to it you must remove the keyboard. There is a youtube video posted by a user named iftibashir. The title of the post is "Upgrading RAM in a Dell Notebook". It is 8.05 minutes long and clearly shows how to do this even if you are not a geek. Hope this helps. 5I give it an A+ after stressing my PC First, this was very easy to do so don't sweat it. Second, I finally got to put it through its paces, so to speak. I don't know that I really 'see' it working faster as I have an older laptop, etc. However, I just edited a bunch of RAW format photos in Phtoshop Lightroom 5 as well as a few of those went to be edited in GiMP. Typically Lightroom will freeze so I know I have to shut it down and restart (sometimes even the whole PC).It isn't uncommon for me to have to do this several times until I am finished. After going from 3GB to the Max 'Usable' RAM of 4GB (I really didn't expect the world based on that little change) it worked with NO stopping so I give this an A+!!! 5Great upgrade! I have an ancient HP Pavillion DV9500t that had 2 GB of ram. I had to use it as a backup when my desktop failed and had to restore to original factory status for it to work well. It ran better after that but not as fast as I am used to. I used Crucial's scan to find out what I needed for the upgrade & ordered from Amazon. One warning to other novice installers: the videos & PDFs show installation with the notch on the right side instead of the left. For some reason, my HP actually has the notch on the right side - you must turn the module over to install it. I thought I had the wrong ram but it wasn't. Followed instructions on YouTube & my laptop came right on & runs noticeably faster than before. One more note: you must push down pretty hard on the module to seat it in the slot. Lot of bang for a little buck! Thanks! 5
