Customer Reviews

If Corsair was a car insurance company, everyone else would be out of business Durable and can take a beating from use. Installed this in an HTPC that pretty much was on 24/7 and saw a lot of use. Have not had a single problem with it. In my opinion Corsair power supplies (and their other components sold) are among the best quality that you can buy. I have an entire system minus motherboard, GPU, and CPU composed of Corsair and I have not had one single issue with them. The only time I had to return an item was when I purchased a PSU before this one. Probably wasnt anything functionally wrong with it, but during shipping it took some damage and had a small dent in the fan grating. Contacted Corsair about it and they shipped me out a new one with next day service and a pre-paid label to ship the damaged unit back to them.I stand behind my opinion on corsair products and their customer support. 5they have a pretty easy ticketing system - It is pretty quite This is a solid power supply that I used in a mini-itx build. I went with the non-modular mostly because of the price difference between this model and its modular twin.-- Pros --- Price, you can't beat it.- There are plenty of connections and also supports a discrete video card's ATX power connectors- Customer service is very quick to reply, they have a pretty easy ticketing system- It is pretty quite, except for one issue that occurred (see below)-- Cons --- This is a pretty big one. The fan apparently slipped out of its channel (for lack of a better word) and stopped spinning. It produced a pretty audible grinding noise. I was able to pop it back in using an eraser on the end of a pencil. I haven't had any issues since then and it has been very quite. Corsair's support recommended to mount the PSU with the fan facing up, but I didn't want to have it sucking in hot air. I left it with the fan pointing down and haven't had any further issues.Overall this is a great PSU for the money! 4Great Upgrade! Easy to Install - worked as promised - very quite once I had it in and running. It took me a little under an hour to pop the old unit out - clean up all connections and mother board - then pop this bad boy in. I took pics with my phone of all connects to help me realize what needed to align with what and what connectors went where. I am not a pro at this and I was nervous - my first time changing out a power supply actually - but it all went smoothly and the product is great. The computer issue I was having (graphics card/constant running fan) where the computer would just power off after grinding a loud fan noise for a while-was fixed with this upgrade. I had upgraded my video card and I believe after reading blogs and posts on the Net the power supply was over working and going bad. Factory power Supply is never enough for upgraded video cards. Very Happy with this company and this product.3/9/2014 - I bought a second one to upgrade my son's computer - his computer was completely different than mine - but still same easy switch out as with mine. Both computers run cooler and quieter! Do not be afraid of this install - this product is universal and easy to install. Like I said before, I used my phone to take pictures and video of the inside connections of the existing power supply - then disconnected & removed old unit and put this new one in. You will be surprised at how easy it is and it is a great product from a good company. 5AMAZINGLY QUIET!!! THIS power supply is AMAZINGLY QUIET!!! Using less than 50% capacity, it is the most quiet power supply I have ever encountered! Feels a bit surreal. The product description reads: "...clever fan design allow for little or no detectable fan noise during regular operation." - They mean it! Barely audible! Well worth the few extra dollars. It works beautifully out of the box, so I'm assuming it is performing as rated, though have not tested.Corsair CX Series, CX500, 500 Watt (500W) Power Supply, 80+ Bronze Certified 5Dependable, Energy Efficient, Quiet, and Affordable Bought this to replace the power supply in my older HP desktop when I wanted to upgrade the graphics card. The new graphics card (a GeForce) needed more power than the old power supply and motherboard could handle. I did some shopping around and decided on this one. It had the wattage, amperage, and the 2 PCI-E Power Connectors that the graphics card needed and was easy to install. The Corsair name has always been synonymous with quality. I have been using their products for years, and have always been happy with the quality and performance. So far, I have never had anything breakdown or go bad, even long after the warranty has expired. This one has been running 24/7 for 5 months now, and is as quiet and stays as cool as the day it was installed. This is my first 80 plus Bronze power supply, and I have to say the power savings is nice. I'm running 2 other older PC's that are on 24/7 (they run scientific calculations), and I'm thinking on getting 2 more of these just to make them more Green. I don't need 500 Watts of power for them, so will probably go with the 430 Watt supplies to save even more energy and thus money 5Performs well and its quiet as a mouse! Bought this for my gaming computer after needing an upgrade from an older one. My previous one had a high pitched noise whenever it was powered on which was annoying. This one is sleek, black, powerful and relatively easy to install. This thing is quiet as a mouse and I love it! I'll keep this brand in mind if I ever need to upgrade or build another gaming rig! 5Corsair's beginner power supply Deluxe! Best quality power supply ever seen. If you are a gamer and looking to buy a quite stable good quality power supply this is the one. Even RM series is Corsair's beginner series of good power supply, it's already a fantastic one. Also, don't go for the brand if you want their CX CS and VS power supply they all sucks. These 3 series are all poorly made in China with very basic material. Save your money and go other brands. Or go big and get this RM ;) 5Timely service 3765 reviews? Wow, with that many its very unlikely this will ever get read. I have no idea how to rate a power supply, either it works or it doesn't (or it makes noise as some have complained. Anyway,I plugged mine into a brand new build and it failed to start the computer. Electronic tester revealed that the CPU 4 pin plug was dead. Nothing to do but return it. I asked for a replacement and got one with no hassle and they even paid the return shipping. PSU testers are real cheap and its highly recommended you get one so you don't end up tossing a perfectly good unit away just because your machine won't power up. There are lots of reasons other than the psu 4I'm sure it's good if you don't get a lemon... twice in a row. With the same issue. Went through two DOA rm550x before deciding to switch to a different power supply. I love Corsair products, so this is very disappointing.Hooked everything up, and when I hit the power button all I heard was a small "pop" then nothing out of the PSU's. Immediately tried a Thermaltake and EVGA power supply afterwards and they worked perfectly. This happened with two different RM550x. 1Excellent Product Bundled with all the cables you should need for basic and medium level builds. I ran an energy profile of my system, which is equipped with a total of 4 120mm fans, a GTX 1660ti Graphics card, a 3TB hard disk, and a 1TB SSD, and an optical Blu-Ray disc, on an MSI Z390A Pro mainboard. Idling in Windows, total consumption is below 80 Watts. At maximum load, less than 350 Watts. This is a very efficient power supply with nominal energy draw in sleep mode. 5Was dead on arrival, Corsair RMA process wanted to force me to pay for shipping to get a replacement I originally had ordered a Seasonic power supply to use in a brand new build, but then after ordering I read about the Corsair RM550x power supply. That power supply was supposed to be quieter, and would only use the fan if needed. So I ordered that one as well, with the intent of returning the unopened Seasonic. In the end, it was good that I ordered both. After putting all of my parts into a Thermaltake V21 case and hooking up the power supply, then came the moment of truth. I hit the power switch, and then saw the fans spin and light up for a second, then immediately my UPS alarmed and everything shut down. I reset the UPS and tried powering it on again, and it wouldn't power on at all.I was unsure of whether I had a bad power supply or a bad motherboard, so I bit the bullet and opened up the Seasonic I also had ordered. I put that into the case, hooked it up, and it powered on immediately. So the Corsair I received was dead on arrival and must have shorted itself out.Incidentally, the RMA process for this power supply left me with a sour taste in my mouth. When I went to RMA it, I discovered that Corsair wanted me to pay to ship it across the country. Which was at best $15 or at worst $30. For something that died the first time I tried to use it. After waiting on hold for 20-30 minutes to see if I could get that waived or something, I decided to call Amazon to see if I had any options there. Luckily, they were more than happy to take it back as a return for it being defective for free, and would just refund it to my credit card. So more reasons to get my parts from Amazon I guess. 1
