Customer Reviews

Allows me to pick up stations i never thought i ... Allows me to pick up stations i never thought i would be able. Very convenient to attach to protective case for travel use. 5Amazing! This simple little antenna turns good radios into even better ones. Will buy another soon. 5Significantly improves reception for shortwave radios with standard whip antenna Using this with my CCrane Skywave radio and the Tectun 880. Attaches to the antenna of the radio, then unreel it as far as possible, hooking the reel end to a tree branch with the clip, or some object inside the house. Outside is always better. The combination of longer antenna length, as well as the capacitor attaches in series with the reel antenna definitely works to bring in distant short wave stations. Not for AM broadcast band on either of these radios, as in this mode they are connected only to the internal ferrite antenna, not the external whip antenna. 5Actually using it on an old Heathkit WWV clock now. I connected to my old Heathkit GC-1000 Most Accurate Clock initially, as it has always had reception problems in this apartment. Not sure how much it improved things but after resyncing to WWV when powered on a mysterious 10 minute offset that suddenly appeared last year vanished (I suspect that was more due to the reset than the antenna though).I purchased this clock (and RS-232 option) for my Western Digital Pascal MicroEngine, after getting tired of manually typing the date and time every time I bootstrapped the computer. While I quit using the MicroEngine in 1991 and donated it to the Computer History Museum in Mountain View, CA in 2008, I have kept the Heathkit GC-1000 Most Accurate Clock running all these years. Will see how the antenna continues on the Heathkit clock and eventually on the C Crane CC Skywave as I figure out more of its capabilities. 4Boosts the signal phenomenally. I use a cheap scorpion ... Boosts the signal phenomenally. I use a cheap scorpion eon 2 for my weather needs while camping. Before I only got 6 pre programmed stations and no sub frequencies. I tried it with the 23' foot antenna. Only had it out 6 feet, and I got all the stations for am/fm/weather with little static. Imagine if I had the the entire 23' out 5Comes with C. Crane radio I did not realize this comes with the C. Crane Skywave SSB radio already, so I will be returning it. I have not used it yet so cannot comment on how it performs, but will give it 4 stars just so my information will be published. 4Well working product. C Crane is well known in radio circles. I have several CC products. This is another example of quality. If you need an indoor or portable wire antenna, this will do very well. 5This one actually works I've got a lot of antenna boosters that function to varying degrees but this is the first one I've bought that I would say actually works. 5Antenna Clamp Not Tight The clamp didn't fit tight to my antenna which I believe is a simple, standard telescoping antenna. Its on a Radio Shack compact AM/FM/SW radio. I placed it as close to the base of the antenna as I could where it is thickest, but no-go. It just slid around. Used some aluminum foil to increase contact. Seems to me, the point of a clamp is to clamp tight. Live in Manhattan, didn't improve my reception but that could be all the noise from tall buildings. Have no idea on that. This Radio Shack gets decent reviews for SW, but don't want to blame the antenna other than to say, it did nothing for my reception. Automatic scan continued to find nothing and a few tries at specific channels also found nothing. AM/FM on the radio works beautifully with many stations on both (without the extra antenna). I did like that it had a clamp on the other end which allowed me to clamp it to a blind which I then raised, pulling the antenna up in the window. That proved useful. Also, this is just a FYI not a reason for any rating reduction, but you must turn the center part with your finger to pull back the antenna into the case. For some using their finger might not be easy. Something that pulled out like a handle would make it easier but don't know if anyone makes something like that. That part didn't cause me any problems but worth letting possible buyers know. 2Great little gadget for boosting signal that actually works Really does boost signal, maybe twice as good as antenna alone. I use it on a super small radio and it gets stations in from about 100 miles away. 5
